It's the 24th century, technology has advanced to impressive heights, can you imagine how much it would suck to be stuck serving on one of those old D-9 cruisers that are 50 years old?

@CmdrTobs I'm a pretty hardcore Trekkie...but I must point out Arthur C. Clarke's law of prediction which states "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". Having a greater, or even just a different, understanding of how the universe works doesn't invalidate it. Perhaps in a few millenia, the Jedi would evolve into something similar to Q.

@Fbueller129 oh it is. Both ofc contain large elements of bullshit that are necessary for a theatrical performance and recognisable plots. But star wars actively advocates unscientific magic and not just unjustifiable technology but also impractical technology. In fact the core of star wars is a never ending struggle between two factions of magicians.
