Einfach nur genial und schön der Jonas Hellborg....

The bass sounds interesting.. but I think ergonomics were out of the question.. His right arm resting on the edge of that fat body for a whole show.. really poor design from a great bass builder. And having the bass so far away from you due to the bass thickness must be awful.
Jonas does some interesting stuff in this video, but I guess he is not my kind of bass player because he never caught my ears (not to mention I find his slap playing horribly un-musical).

@Olliemetal666 "it's a sympathetic kind of rattle" Love that Ollie. That's what 1 of my bass's suffers from. I thought of it as fret buzz. But now it will always be "sympathetic rattle" Thank you. }:0)

@usedinpublic It's because of his strong hand technique. If he wanted to, every single note on that fret board could come out crystal clear. Tone is in the hands, and chances are his action is set like that to give his playing more character. Dynamics son.

He reminds me Eric Clapton way of, Bass playing, I don't like Eric Clapton,,SO......Forget it....I miss you JACO....

Does he play with 3 fingers? (right hand)

Since he is playing a Warwick Jonas Hellborg Signature bass - designed to get exactly the sound Jonas wanted - it ain't ugly at all! It is big - as is the case with many archtop-style guitars and basses: the size adds to the resonance and rich tonal qualities (particularly in the lower and midrange frequencies). Given all that, I would call it a beautiful piece of the luthier's art!
