It's funny that people say some waves make Teahupoo look 'small', it has nothing to do with size. The waves in Nazare Portugal are way bigger, but they are not even close to being cylindrical like teahupoo, there is no reef pass, and the mass of water in these waves is just so much bigger.

his wave was nowhere near the size or power of lairds. the physics when it gets bigger than the longboarders results in a wave that is actually impossible to paddle into, and make the drop.

Suas ondas estão longe de ser as maiores do planeta, pois raramente atingem 6 metros de altura (as maiores do mundo podem chegar a 20 metros), porém, com certeza estão entre as mais perigosas.
Perigosas porque as ondas quebram em um "buraco", no recife de coral, criando um efeito surreal.
Esse fenômeno é causado pelo relevo submarino da região, onde em um trecho de menos de 2 Km, a profundidade do mar diminui drasticamente, indo de mais de 1400 metros de profundidade para 1,5 metros.
