EDIT: A few seconds into the video, I move the camera to a police car that goes by. That police car (along with 2 fire trucks and an ambulance and 3 other police cars) were going to this horrible scene: http://www.gadsdentimes.com/article/20110429/NEWS/110429657?p=1&tc=pg
I live in AL and we got hit by tornadoes on Wednesday the 27th.
Tuscaloosa was mostly destroyed. My town is farther north so when the 3 storms hit us, they were mildly weakened.
3 storms hit us that day: one at 6am-2pm (it knocked our power out) the 2nd at 4pm-7pm, and the 3rd which happened at 9pm.
This video is of the 9pm storm which was actually 20 miles east of us in a town called Piedmont (Peed-mont) so we did not actually feel any wrath of this storm except for high winds, thunder, and this beautiful video.
My camera is not strong so it did not capture the entire beauty of the storm. Basically, the cloud was this huge puffed balloon and it was lightning constantly to illuminate the sky almost like daytime.
My dad did ride through this storm, he, my sister and my stepmom were in the basement during this one. It caused only minor damage to their house and vehicles. I haven't gotten to visit them to see, yet.
The damage that my family suffered was minimal: spoiled food (due to loss of power for 3 days), about 10 tons of uprooted trees in our backyard (our poor, beautiful 100 year old oak trees which actually probably saved our lives since they blocked the wind, but they didn't make it through the night), landscaping damage, a busted window (caused by a flying object), and damage caused by hail. We were extremely lucky compared to others.
Wow, amazing lightning! Looks like one ANGRY storm, whoa!!
