This was my first attempt. Unfortunately strapping the camera to the grill of my truck caused excessive vibration (the roads in Alaska are not that smooth). Then, to top it off, a big mosquito (Alaska has quite a few) impacted on the lens. Out of the entire front of the truck, the bug hits the one square inch of glass on my camera. Aarrrggg. When I tried to re-shoot the video later in the day, weather had moved in fairly quickly (another Alaskan trait) and ruined the light. Since fall is so short in Alaska, I didn't get a chance to shoot the video again on a different day, for almost all the leaves had fallen off the trees by the next weekend. The drive itself was spectacular, and the camera really fails to capture it, but I was able to salvage this (sortof).

  • This is absolutely beautiful. I used to work in Cooper Landing, so I drove this route a lot. It is magnificent.

    Thanks for the video :D

  • Thanks for the nice comment. It looks much better uncompressed, but no camera in the world could capture how stunningly breathtaking it really was. Take care.

  • Beautiful job, I've had the opportunity to also drive the Sterling Highway. What is the name of the musical piece?

  • Thanks for the compliment. The song is 'Promentory' track #6 on the Last of the Mohicans soundtrack.
