  • There is general agreement among scholars that Daniel's revelations are actually “vaticinium ex eventu” or prophecies after the event and the traditionalist view which dates it to the 6th century has been rejected by the scholarly community since the end of the 19th century.

Latin term: Vaticinium Ex Eventu, or foretelling after the event.

  • The book presents itself as the work of a prophet named Daniel who lived during the 6th century BC. Modern critical biblical scholarship dates the Book of Daniel to the 2nd century BCE.

  • How would you debone this one: New International Version (©1984)

One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind:

You are stuck to the form and miss the substance. I don't think the fact the disciples followed the rules of the Sabbath one day after Jesus' was crucified much of an arguement. In matters of 'food or drink' they likewise needed further educated on the freedom now given.

  • @Paahau You have misquoted. The correct quote is "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holiday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days" The reference was to the ceremonial sabbaths not the Sabbath day.Mary and the other women waited till the Sabbath was through befoe going to look for Christ; Luke 23:56. Had the Sabbath been abolished why would Christs closests followers still observe it?

  • @Paahau I am not a seventh day Adventist. 1 John 2:4 : The one who says, "I have come to know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. I keep His commands BECAUSE I love Him (John 14:15). They are not burdensome. The Church has been receiving a very diluted gospel and is in danger. We have been too lackadaisical in our teachings and it has caused great harm to the Body. The 2 commands talk of ALL 10 and those speak of the rest. Jesus caused division.

  • @momelock You've been brought up or introduced at a crucial time into this system of belief so go with it. I know some 7th day people and they are a people of faith, w/added beliefs. Jesus gave two commandments: if your diet laws, and observance of days doesn't help you love your neighbor as yourself/your god w/all your mind heart and soul, what good are they? If they set up a barrier between you and other believers they are a hinderance. What do you think?

  • @Paahau If you don't want to learn that's OK. You will be held responsible for rejecting the truth. I'm getting weary of arguing with Christians who don't want to walk in obedience. Traditions are man made laws. If you want to call Yahweh's COMMANDS man made laws, that's your head, not mine. I will have reverence for my Creator and keep his commands out of love for Him. His Spirit led me to do it, so don't persecute me for listening to Him.

  • @momelock Pt. 2: do you see the difference between the shadow and the substance? Does it matter, or would you rather follow the traditions of your fathers? So go ahead, eat kosher, call shellfish and pork unclean, though Peter was straightened out on this quite directly. Worship on Saturday, and imagine your little group is special & the rest of the Christians have missed it. Really, down deep who cares? It's just the little man, the old man, the flesh, ego, sin nature, working it's magic.

  • @momelock Pt. 1 Paul battled the Jewish Christians who were wanting to lay on the new Christians O.T. burdens : Colossians. In Chapter 2 we read "Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day: things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ." you're twist this to say Paul wants them to eat kosher, and observe Jewish festivals.

Try reading Galatians 4:9-11: It's in the N.T.
