  • how are your coral and anemone living if you have set up your tank for only 2 months?

  • How can they not live? The tank is cycled and ready.

  • @jumpforfakinjoy

just because your water is technically cycled for 2 or 3 weeks doesnt mean it can support corals.. i bet the ones shown here died didnt they.

  • @cmanclan101

The only coral I have "killed" is my Pulsing Xenia.....I thin it out about once a month in my 120g tank. It grows like a weed!!

I have the cycling process down to about one week with pure Ammonia. Then I dose the tank for roughly two weeks with a cultured bacteria. Once that is done you can throw just about anything you want in it and your good! As with anything, knowing what your doing is the key!

  • @Mattgreenwald All canister filters are next to useless! They are huge nitrate producers, a sump with a refugium and skimmer is better.

  • @cmanclan101 it say 2 months not weeks

  • @trainkid12 real easy

  • @cmanclan101 glad to hear they did alright. in my experience i usually get a hearty fish maybe 2 in the tank for a month or so before adding any inverts.

the pulsing xenia i have in my 90gal is the same way.. its only been there for about 9 months now, and the thing grows faster than anything i've had before. i love it though

  • How much was that flame angel ?

  • @LuisReefTank Bioballs work fine in a saltwater tank.. Look at the Eheim canister filters made for saltwater. The media is basicly just cut up 1/8inch plastic pipe. Anything that provides alot of area for bacteria to grow on is a good filtration.

  • @michaelmp5 How about researching before posting? bio-balls are good for freshwater because the freshwater bacteria colonize in the fitler media and the bio-balls.

In saltwater, you only use liverock and a skimmer for filtration, using bio-balls is not good because they will trap sediments in the tank an acumulate , making them a nitrate factory.
