Graham Cohen: Hurricane Abigale 1 MusicaNova Orchestra

Graham Cohen was a 2009 ASCAP Morton Gould Award Winner and the youngest ever Charlotte Bergen Scholarship Recipient. (he was 10 years old when he won). He won for his piece "Infernal Fantasy". On January 10, 2010, at Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. the MusicaNova Orchestra under the direction of Warren Cohen played his new work "Hurricane Abigale", which depicts the most serious hurricane to afflict Graham's fictional country of New Forest. The music begins with people scurrying frantically to prepare for the storm; then you hear the storm hit, hear the terrifying eyewall of the storm, the eerie calm of the eye, the furious back eyewall and finally the tragic aftermath of the storm. Graham composed this work in the fall of 2009, when he was still ten years old. This work received an Honorable Mention in the 2010 Morton Gould Awards.
