Video capture of VF2 running on SSF emulator on Samsung R510 notebook (specs below). Recorded using SSF (Shift+F9) and converted with AviUtl. Unfortunately, audio/video synchronization is bad so I've put the regular music from the game in the background instead. Deinterlation is disbled to maintain full speed but it's not visible on the video.

Notebook specs: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13 Ghz, 3 GB RAM DDR2, GeForce 9200M GS 512 MB. Virtually all Saturn games work flawlessly (one of the exceptions is Last Bronx). Note that the video runs somewhat faster and skips some frames.

  • Hey there,

I'm trying this game on SSF 0.11 alpha R4' but I get no sound effects, just music. =(

Do you know any way to fix this?

  • @vittau Apparently every new release of SSF has it's own issues. I've got the same problem with Daytona USA and some other games. The only solution is to just play those games on previous versions of SSF, I've got all since 0.08 on my PC just in case, it takes some time to test which game works the best on which one though... Anyways, VF 2 works with no problems on SSF 0.09 Beta R4 and SSF 0.08 Alpha R11 for sure, but they don't offer the "deinterlace" option.

  • @SaturnFanPL Guess I'll just wait some more then, VF2 gets too ugly without deinterlace... Thanks ;)

  • @vittau My notebook's CPU is too slow for deintarlace (the game runs at about 60% speed, unless I disable backgrounds for example :P) so it doesn't bother me that much, besides if you play from a distance it's less visible :P

  • @vittau I've just found a way to enable sound effects in VF 2 and some other games ^_^ I had the same problem with Daytona USA and was surprised that I don't hear the SE on SSF versions I tested before with positive result. I noticed that I had to set the "Highest compatibility setting", but it still didn't work for the new versions (BTW Alpha R5 is out). But I noticed that "1Block Clock" setting, which previously was set to 90, now is set 80. So I've changed it to 90 and surprisingly it worked!

  • @SaturnFanPL Oh boy, that did the trick. =D Thanks.

Then I tested R5, but it goes to the CD Player and says "Game disc is unsuitable for this system". And I'm not even emulating it, I still have my game disc, USA version (but bought here in Brazil). Well, I'll be sticking with R4 I guess. =P

  • @vittau You should change the Area Code (to Brazil maybe?) and try again, then again Beta R5 isn't probably much differnet from R4' anyway :P

  • most of the emulators have problems but its better then nothing? this game was fun i use to play it all the time, really good classics

  • @SaturnFanPL Yes SSF has issues( I finally got it working)like it will play the UK Burning Rangers CD but not the US CD and it only uses CDs and not ISOs too and won't use the Action Replay Rom but it's a small price to pay since it's the only Sega Saturn emulator that does work. However when it comes VF2, I'd rather use the Model 2 Arcade Emulator since the Arcade VF2 looks and plays way better then the Saturn port of VF2 and I have a 3in1 PC Joy Box to use my Saturn Pad on my PC too.

  • because you only hear the music?

  • any way to filterer out the jumpiness and the lines?

  • graphic look better than PSX cause the 2d shading beautiful

  • GO PAI! ^^
