Since it's going to be a while until my next camping/road trip I thought I'd upload an old scifi movie I loved as a kid that doesn't get shown on television much anymore. The Atomic Submarine is in the public domain and can be legally downloaded and distributed. You can see the entire movie online, and download it (and many other Public Domain movies and TV shows) from:

Fans of the animated TV show 'the Simpsons' may find the alien very familiar. Check out its IMDB page for more detail.

  • Wow! I was looking high and low for this movie and it finally surfaced-pun intended here.Saw it when I was about 7 years old and I remember I couldn`sleep that night! Of course when I saw it later it was somewhat corny, but it is a great little B film that an interesting concept, story and decent FX.Thanks for uploading it. Really enjoyed it.

  • @loufalce I'm glad you enjoyed it as much a I do. I remember watching this on TV as a kid and as the years passed by it was gone, but not forgotten. I found like I had struck gold when I saw it on the Internet archive of public domain movies.

  • I have not seen this old B scifi movie for forty seven years! Thanks for posting, I will let my home planet know it's on the YouTube now.

  • @ufoengines I'm glad that others also enjoy this overlooked classic. ;-)

I also have a link in the info where you can download the entire movie, legally and for free (though they will accept donations). There are a lot of old scifi, as well as other genre, movies there that have lapsed into the Public Domain that are well worth checking out.

  • Your vid is a favorite on Maseru

I was 7 years old when this came out, it is one of those movie experiences that has stuck with me for 50+ years, I remember it very well. Great 50's sci-fi flic with damn good monster for the time.

  • @EddystoneM17 More like this one? That's a hard one. Have you seen the original Invaders From Mars?

  • Joi Lansing.'Nuff said.

  • This film must surely have influenced Irwin Allen when he was creating Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea. However unlike the later episodes of that series that dealt with a monster/alienof the week, the plot here is rounded and believable.

  • Thanks For Uploading saw this when I was 7 and it was great for a kid. Gonna watch it right now and see how it compares to my memory from 50 years ago.

  • Half the fun of this film's is Alex Lazlo's score! he scored some major TV shows in the 50's.

I first saw this film on local TV as a 12 year old and even then I knew it was flawed but had a great story.

In 1985 I was with my parents who lived in Newport Beach and we went to dinner at a local place. While there I noticed Pat Michaels (the narrator) and his wife. I went over and intro'ed myself and mentioned the film. He looked befuddled and than came back with something like: "I'd forgotten it!"
