Gym Class Heroes' first and best album.

MC Travie McCoy and drummer Matt McGinley became friends at their local high school's gym class in Geneva, New York. They officially came together in 1997. The original GCH began playing college parties and BBQs, birthday parties, clubs, and festivals which eventually led to larger venues throughout the northeast, including four years on Warped Tour (2003, 2004, 2006, 2008). During 2004, guitarist Milo Bonacci (who went on to form Ra Ra Riot) parted ways with the band and was replaced with current guitarist Disashi Lumumba-Kasongo. In mid 2005, bassist Ryan Geise left the band and was replaced by their friend, bassist Eric Roberts. McCoy won MTV's Direct Effect MC Battle and as a prize, appeared in Styles P's video "Daddy Get That Cash". The group released three more CDs from 1999 to 2004, called "Hed Candy," "Greasy Kids Stuff," and "Papercut Chronicles EP". The video for "Cupid's Chokehold" features appearances by Katy Perry and Patrick Stump.

  • Love this track

Its actually from there EP Greasy Kid Stuff which came out before For the Kids

  • @bgsuswagger Yeah all their independent tracks but one made it to the For The Kids Album. Thanks for the comment though, you reminded me to get some of their ancient stuff. (brain games, bernie allen etc)

  • @jordan32none Thanks so much for the link!

You gotta love the old stuff. The all there albums are amazing except The Quilt. Even then so the Quilt wasn't as bad as everyone made it out to be.

Travis Mccoy prob the greatest lyricist ever (along w/ Eminem) but not many ppl will know just b/c he's not mainstream

  • @bgsuswagger Your welcome :] Yeah their old stuff is why they're one of my favourite bands. I would love another papercut chronicle/for the kids like album but like you said their new stuff really isn't that bad - its just nowhere as good as their previous albums.

I know! He's a madly underrated rapper in my opinion.
