I show how i did a high idle mod for a OBD-I 6.5L turbo diesel truck. Simple 5 minute mod.
Supplies needed: Pin connector, wire ( i used 18 gauge ), 12V switch, 10 amp fuse.

  • Would this work on a 92 6.5rd?

  • @rsl8774 Should if its an OBD-1 system, which i think it is, only trucks this wont work on is the old mechanical injector pumps

  • positive ground? are you saying that the wire on the right hand side of the switch is the ground and the middle is the positive? thats the only way i could see that workin out

  • @TBWdracula2003 The one wire goes from the + on my battery, through a 20 amp fuse, to that switch, to the connector pin i believe. That switch has 3 poles on it, i am not sure what they are all for, but it worked well for this. One side is for input power and the other side is for output. I ran another wire to that switch ( middle maybe i forget which, because i was going to use it for another accessory item but instead of disconnecting it i just left it connected. this can be done with 2 wires

  • @TBWdracula2003 by the way, very nice truck you got, you got it very very cheap too!

  • cool! cant wait for next vid!

btw this may be stupid question, but what do you use this for?

I just want to no how useful this would be to have.

  • @bigdogtruck75 well i use it for when im boosting a tractor ( brings your volts up a little more as the alternator spins a very rpms more ) In the winter time some people throw it on, another thing i use it for is when im driving at slow speeds ( piloting a combine) i throw this on becuase it keeps my speed just where i need it, and cruise control doesnt work at that slow of speed, or on most of these GMC's it rarely works at all haha

  • What size pin connector do I need

  • @rsl8774 the 92 6.5 diesel's had mechanical injection pumps, the accelerator has a cable connected to the inj. pump, no electronics.

  • My "A" plug has a wire that has a factory wire in the # 6 slot, on my "C" plug their is no wire in the # 6 slot

  • I only have 2 plugs going into my computer. Their is a big plug and a smaller plug. Which one would it go into? Is it the same "A" plug?

  • @Thefarmshow how? on a switch the positive in has to be the middle... ive done my own wiring on my old ford and wired in all the lights and about half the cab. the third one on there is so ou can hook up a ground to it and have the light in the switch work.

  • @Thefarmshow thanks :) yeah you should see it now, im going to post up a vid here in the next couple days.
