HISTORY:
=======

The Sinclair ZX Spectrum is an 8-bit personal home computer released in the United Kingdom in 1982 by Sinclair Research Ltd.

The Spectrum is based on a Zilog Z80A CPU running at 3.5 MHz. The original model Spectrum has 16 KB (16×1024 bytes) of ROM and either 16 KB or 48 KB of RAM.

Video output is through an RF modulator and was designed for use with contemporary portable television sets, for a simple colour graphic display. Text can be displayed using 32 columns × 24 rows of characters from the ZX Spectrum character set, from a palette of 15 shades: seven colours at two levels of brightness each, plus black. The image resolution is 256×192 with the same colour limitations.[9] To conserve memory, colour is stored separate from the pixel bitmap in a low resolution, 32×24 grid overlay, corresponding to the character cells. Altwasser received a patent for this design. An "attribute" consists of a foreground and a background colour, a brightness level (normal or bright) and a flashing "flag" which, when set, causes the two colours to swap at regular intervals.

The Spectrum was among the first mainstream audience home computers in the UK, similar in significance to the Commodore 64 in the USA.

======================================

You couldn't simply forget about this wonderful home computer. For many people it was a higher start to create their own program software. Many years later most of them replaced it by modern PCs and MACs, but.. it be always in memory.

Here's a slideshow. Fully worked Spectrum software and original hardware were used. The .TAP file is open. Feel free to ask.

Please note! The main in this clip are RORY GALLAGHER and his music!

  • I closed my eyes and listened, thought it sounds like walk on hot coals, but I see paidrig already guessed it.

    It's so cool to here a song thats being worked still. Really cool playing by Rory, he was such an emotional writer and player, god bless him.

  • the intro is more than anoying!

  • Yup "padriag" Howlin' Wolf's "Shake for Me" for sure :)

  • the best of the best

  • Walk on the hot coals. It sounds like a 1971/72 recording, his guitar style here reminds me a lot of "Live in Europe" LP.

  • Hi Padraig yeah it does sound like walk on hot coals. I saw recently on your you tube videos. Rory Gallagher on the late late show. I never ever thought he would be on it. I saw on the news today his good friend Ronnie Drew who is another Irish legend gone sadly had made a very last album of him a few months before his death. There selling it tonight to give money to charity. Sadly also Rory would of been 60 this year god love him.

  • Yeah i think this was recorded in '71 and Walk on Hot Coals wasn't recorded till '73 so i'd say he came up with the music first and put old blues lyrics to it before writing his own lyrics.

  • sounds like walk on hot coals at the start.

  • Right, Padraig! "Shake for me, Baby" from Go-Go
