We've all heard the old saying: good night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.
Well it seems the bugs are a biting everywhere these days. Even talking about them is enough to make you itch.
But you have to, because these blood-sucking bugs are a big problem.
"They can spread not only from your bed but to the carpet and to the curtains and just overtake it," said Angie Vasquez.
It's like something out of a horror movie, but the reality is bed bugs are booming.
"They'll hitchhike in your suitcases if you went on a trip and stayed at a hotel," said Garry Ritter, environmental services manager. "Bring them back in your purse if you're on a bus."
Earlier this summer in New York City, bed bugs discovered Victoria's dirty little secret.
And then last week, the bugs invaded a movie theater in Times Square.
"Three years ago it was maybe two or three calls a month," said Jon Merwarth, Lehigh Valley Pest Control. "But now it's a weekly thing, four or five calls a week is not unusual for bed bug problems now."
Scientists said bed bugs are appearing on a scale not seen since before World War II.
"One set of male and female bedbugs can come into a property and within a matter of months there can be hundreds of 'em," said Merwarth.
People can report their creepy crawly hotel and apartment encounters at bedbugregistry.com.
As for why we're seeing this, experts say one reason may be increased international travel.
By looking at some of the beds they are showing, I can see why the problem is getting worse, clean your house people! EWW!!
