Taking In The View
FROM LP POWER - 1986
(Morse, Walsh) -- 3:06

The world began to change, the children moved, and they had children,
It was all arranged, you couldn't live there anymore,
All you had was that old place, in the middle of the path of progress,
So they took the space, and put the ceiling on the floor.
In one of the rooms all the walls were blue,
It was hidden so well that no one knew
Just the place for taking in the view

The View of the sea, crisp and clear and neverending,
There your soul ran free, there you spirit soared,
The View took you away, to the boundaries of imagination,
Back to yesterday, back to once before
In one of the rooms all the walls were blue.
A mysterious space without a clue
Just the place for taking in the View

Long lives, need no fortune
Hard lives, need no fame
Young lives, seek their freedom
And old lives seek the same

The world began to change, and without a word of explanation
Something very strange started beckoning to you,
When they came to move your things
you had packed a suitcase, full of memories,
Nothing else to bring, except a different point of View.
In one of the rooms all the walls were blue
A mysterious space without a clue
Just the place for taking in the View

  • chords, tabs? Please!

  • Power has been my favourite album since I was 4. I haven't heard any other album with so many great songs on it as this one! There's just no topping it for me

  • Funny that I ran into this! I am doing a by request thing for my facebook friends back home in new york, and one of my friends said that i used to sing it, so i did a little except from memory.

it is unlisted because it was only for one friend in particular.

  • @yes90125 yes, and Dust In The Wind is probably one of their most pointless ones :) (provided you know about their others, needless to say many do not)

  • sad that it took this long for another commment, u have great taste keeep it up.

  • Hey Rune, thanks for sending this to me. It's excellent. It's also the first Kansas post that I've ever seen that they put the ads on! I wonder if they did this back then when you posted it and have since changed there policy on this band or are they doing this only on the Power album?....Rick

  • I hadn't heard this in so long; being both a huge Dregs and Kansas fan, I bought this one when it came out, but now I have no 33 1/3 RPM vinyl LP player. This is superb. Morse's playing is beautiful, as is Walsh's singing and keyboard part. It has brought tears to my eyes..."to the boundaries of imagination, back to yesterday.."

  • Thank you, Runeespa. You have great taste.

  • Power is an very underrated album by Kansas. My favorite songs from the album are this one, Musicatto and the title track. The other 7 songs are also quite good. Thanks for posting this one!

  • Steve Walsh & Steve Morse: AWESOME!
