My client a small chemical company in Bucks County is seeking a R&D Chemist

PURPOSE
New polymer development and provide technical support to manufacturing.

BASIC FUNCTION

Provide technical expertise in the Research & Development of COMPANY non-leather products. Set quality and environmental standards for COMPANY non-leather products. Provide technical support to manufacturing and customers as needed.


JOB RELATIONSHIPS

Company R&D Director PC, PUD Lab manager, Jr. chemist and technicians, Purchasing Manager, Production Supervisors, Production Floor Employees, QC Lab technicians and Quality Assurance.
Supervisory none
External Customers, Vendors


JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Direct participation in new product development for non-leather.

2. Provide problem solving customer support.

3. Direct new non-leather product scale-up in manufacturing.

6. Provide laboratory support for manufacturing process control for non-leather products.

7. Set quality and environmental standards for new non-leather products.

8. Interface with key suppliers to address requirements of raw materials.

9. Maintain records and retains of testing methods used in research and development.

12. Perform special projects, as assigned.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required
BS Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent related science.

Training & Experience
Experience in synthesis formulating and application of coatings related to non-leather substrates.
Ongoing training in laboratory specifications and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required
Knowledge of all product related chemistries.
Ability to interpret product specifications.
Knowledge of all laboratory testing systems and procedures.
Organizational, analytical and problem solving skills required.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively manage employees and to interact with customers and vendors.
Ability to operate computer programs to write technical reports and forms.

Machines/Equipment Experience
Mechanical equipment necessary for the operation of research and development.
Computer Equipment and programs.
