This Android Controlled Car, a.k.a. KeyFi is a project I'm working on which allows control of the various electronics of my car from a wireless device/ smart phone. Ultimately the goal is to replace increasing keys on a keyring, improving convenience and ergonomics.

I chose to start with the windows to prepare for the summer heat, but this device has all sorts of applications such as locks, heaters, A/C, etc.

EDIT: This was used for an application to the James Dyson Award.

  • You should market it man. Lots of money to be made. Screw adroid with on star. If you made an app that was UNIVERSAL for all models man....... you'd shut it DOWN

  • @srtallday

LOL thanks, I'll keep it in mind. If and when I do put it on the Market I'll be sure to post here

  • @srtallday

I finally did post the app for download as well as the basics of the project itself. Check it out.

    h ttp://dmacattack.110mb.com in the Projects/Apps sections.

  • Is it an app that already exists? I couldn't find one

  • @srtallday

Ahh I see what you mean. I made the app myself. I could put it up on the internet somewhere, but there's quite a bit of circuitry to make and put in your car. I was thinking of making a website on the whole thing, and making the app available to whomever wants to make it themselves, but such a thing will take time.

  • Dude this is fucking awsome. A remote start with A/C control would make it PERFECT. Any idea when it'll be out?

  • @srtallday

It would be great for A/C control, but what do you mean "when it'll be out"?

  • I have some more parts to install on the passenger side window. other than that its fully functional. The next steps are to possible reduce the power consumption. This project I used to apply for the James Dyson Award: look it up and vote for me, I'm in Canada.

Any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

  • whats the progress on this? i have the Motorola droid as well and what your are doing is simply amazing
