Rich , thanks for the video, can you be specific where to order a snap switch, and a small fan that will run of a solar panel

Amazing, may I ask what is the temp in winter and what output do you get from your heaters. Also do they need direct sunlight or will they still produce heat on a cloudy day?

Great video, Brother. Well done. I had not heard of the pop can idea before you revealed it. Nice use of resources. Thanks so much for all your hard work and sharing the knowledge. I truly enjoyed watching. God bless!

Pretty nice, where are you, I'd love to see it work in the winter? IF you not too far I'd like to drop by!

Rich, I live in the northwoods, If you built a 4x8 on of those how many square foot cabin would you think it would work ok for?I know kind of vague but seems like you built alot of these. Thanks

craigs list free section can get almost all materials for free, i have a big chunk of shower glass, about 15, 20 ft long sections of vinyl siding, all the wood you could ever want, prob even find broken computers for free fans. so should only be out a can or 2 of spray paint, maby some scre,ws and stuff to attach to wall. i think a huge benefit of these boxes is shade just vent outside in summer.

all together how much did it cost
I got mine off of ebay you want one that's open and closes at 110 i think there used for attic fans. Also you can get the small fans on ebay too iused 12volt ones

Great video! Question: Why do you need pop cans at all if you're using the gutters, why not gutters Only?
trumpsahead 1 year ago
@trumpsahead the pop cans grab the heat and make more mass also slows the air down when tou hook up a fan the temp will drop with just the downspouts i think it would drop to fast but about anything will work if you get good sun my videos just show projects im working on

instead of adding the alu cans, would it be better to have a multispeed fan which speed is based on temperature. would also server as a shutoff when temp is too
cold, btw, amazing design, wish there was some way people could compare designs to see which one is best.

Hi Rich! I'm building one this weekend and I want to know how you sealed the top and bottom cans to the downspout. Was that just caulk? Please let me know. Thanks. Also, I know the cans fit tightly into the header, but what about that joint, does that get sealed, too?

@landslave caulk works fine you might want to check out my loose can heater it is easter to make plus better heat and flow i found out you dont need top botton headers you want all the air from your box to flow . my small loose can heater got to 180 degrees much better than the downspout heater working on a new heater ideal video coming soon good luck
