Yeh i'm aware of that method too! i guess at the end of the day doing both would be the best option!

A simpler way to increase the work your legs are doing is to hold a kickboard straight up and down like a wall in front of you while you kick.
This drill however is the way to go imo if you want to really start learning how to have a great body position.

This is a good drill, I don't dislike it all, very handy for groups of kids that talk and drop the effort too much as soon as they have a kickboard. But, the problem with this drill is that you're always lying flat. How about a similar drill that replicates the rotated aspect that makes up most of the freestyle kick?
Just a thought....

I think i'll give this a go, might be hard though since theres like 4 of us in a line which is just wide enough for my arms on fly!
do you have a video that show you how to coordinate the kick with your strokes?

@drutimann - go to the website and look under the freestyle drills section for 1-2-3 Drill. That has some timing aspects to it.

wtf, his kicks seems wrong as the leg below his knees are bending, shouldn't the whole thigh, leg, feet part be straight?

@chinesep1mp - I added a video response for the Kara Lynn Joyce video. The legs are slightly bent. Too straight of legs doesn't give your legs the snap or power necessary to move... too bent, and you create too much resistance. A happy medium us generally the best answer.
