SYM Symba vs Honda Super Cub Scooter Comparison

I agree with that. Time will tell. The Sym looks like a nice bike. But...it's a clone. There's no getting away from that. And the brand new Super Cub 110 has many of the so-called 'improvements' that the Sym has, yet it's a real Honda, not a knock-off. All Cub parts and assembly are done in Japan by HMC under severely strict quality control. No one would buy the Sym in Japan. It would be like buying Taiwanese Corvette? Or Chinese Ferrari? It ain't a Ferrari, no amount of options makes it so.

How many people here realise that Sanyang Motors (SYM) was the official manufacturer of the Honda Super Cub in Taiwan? And when that license ran out they're still producing the same thing under a different name?
SYM have the same reputation for quality as Honda does, they used to BUILD supercubs for honda back in the day.

the solo seat looks soooo shit, the lifan isnt cool either -it defeats the purpose of the classic honda reliable-as-anything engine. what you have is a honda cub frame with a shitty chinese engine

^^

the cub is way more reliable. i met someone who hadnt started it in 4 years and it started first time, as if it were new

YEAH RIGHT,--try and throw that "symba" off a building and see if it runs,I would love to see that and thats with old cooking oil in it/and overloaded as well, you can try to persuade sales on these "wanna-be" bikes, but theres only ONE honda and honda this type of honda has been around for almost 50 years, and guess what pal,YOU AND YOUR SHIT dont fly with me. THE HONDA CUB IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE #1.

@kikuchiyoh we should form a group that demands it and keep bugging them, if we get enough followers with demand they just might do it. Eventually.... haha. But yeah it's time for the cub to return to the states. I don't care if it's in the more modern forma which is the wave/innova, but it needs to return! just keep it with a 125 or a 150cc engine.

i wouldn't ever put a lifan motor on a honda. I'd take the older ones and rebuild them with GENUINE honda parts (which are hard to come by in the U.S but plentiful in japan) Genuine to me is a must.

the newer cubs are better than the symba. And so are the older ones. and in terms of technology, Well the symba isn't anymore advanced than the cubs made in the 70s. Just with slightly better electrical. But the newer cubs are FAR ahead of the symba in terms of tech. They now have fuel injection with a catalytic converter. it's amazing how they made it work on such a small engine. if they sold them here (but in the trail format) with fuel injection. I'd go straight to the dealer and buy one.

@ScooterNews no no its not. honda is honda symba is knock off junk
-
bullshit! honda cub is much better. c90 is better than any gook junk.
Fun but why compare a four+ decade old Cub to a brand new Symba? And one with a Chinese transplant? Compare stock to stock. Even a Honda Super Cub 90 would be better than a Lifan powered Cub shell. and why not pick a magneto, high compression engine, standard since the 90s? Reliability? You're joking, right? Come to Japan. You'll see Cubs w/ 50, 60, 70k still being ridden daily by shop owners who beat on them in all weather with original everything except tires, gas, oil and maybe original oil.

Because it was an interesting comparison and the Super Cub was available. If it wasn't interesting, why did you watch the video?

Never said it wasn't interesting. Just inaccurate, that's all.
But they're your bikes, and your vid, so you call the shots. But, let me get this straight. You're saying a Chinese clone is more durable than the original Honda? Is that correct? That to me is simply outrageous and groundless since the Sym just hit the streets. Besides can you name one Chinese product that outlasts any Japanese product, let alone their most successful functional work of art, the Cub?

I'm saying a Taiwanese Symba (its not Chinese) has the potential to be as durable as a Super Cub? Have you ridden a Symba? Technology has come a long way in the 50 years since the Cub was first made, I would hope this would improve the reliability of modern bikes. Only the test of time will truly tell. I would bet that Chinese AK47 rifles outlast just about any other rifle out there. China doesn't always equal bad (even though this bike isn't Chinese)
