@mavrickindigo well no but I'm just saying the training of Japanese seyu is really intense so the final results usually top normal voice actors around the world.
-
@mkzhero I was just listing him as an example. Ok so maybe most actors can't do something really crazy like say long tongue-twisters really fast, but does that really matter at all? What makes a good voice actor is that they capture the character and entertain the audience. I mean whoever is doing the catgirl seems pretty good, and it's probably someone famous or somethingt. US focuses more in "Acting" than in "voice work" so people can do physical and voiced roles equally well.
-
@mavrickindigo you can't call Jim Carey a voice actor. He is a regular actor doing a voice over. And I really doubt that a hard line like the one in this video or some even harder ones can be said by American voice actors.. Or any voice actors but seyu.
-
@mkzhero maybe, but regular actors who do voice work can also do regular acting. I'm not sure if Japanese voice actors are as accomplished on film and stage as say the likes of Tony Jay, Robin WIlliams, Jim Carey, Mark Hamill, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, the list goes on.
-
@mavrickindigo oh ok.. Its just that give seen American voice actor training in america and in Japan its way more hardcore..
-
@mkzhero People think Japanese voice actors are better, but English-speaking Actors can also be good. Most people who say that US actors aren't very good usually don't watch anything other than anime, which is generally poorly dubbed for economic reasons. Most good actors over here like to be paid more.
-
@mavrickindigo wtf? Can you re-word your point? I kind of missed it in the whole word pukeing
-
@mkzhero "seiyu" or whatever. Yeah, they're voice actors from Japan. It's just that Japan specializes in voice acting because most of their products are not live action. But it still doesn't make them any better than actors in the west. Anime fans don't see this because all they ever pay attention to are the phoned in voice acting done by Funimation and 4kids and the like.
-
@mavrickindigo just look up seyu ..
-
@mkzhero Isn't "seyu" just the Japanese equivalent to a voice actor?
Also when you say "normal" voice actor, do you mean anime actors? Those tend to not be as good because the actual actors cost more money than Anime dubbing companies want to spend
you know whats a seyu? Its the people who voice anime and other stuff and also sing (really brief explanation). in their training they have to say things 20 times harder than this or maybe more.. and a lot longer too...

@mkzhero It's amazing how skilled they are compared to most American voice actors.
