It's harvest time - the most important time of the year in Lark Rise, when everyone helps to bring in the wheat that will feed them through winter. Sidney falls cricially ill with measles, and Dorcas puts the Post Office in quarantine; but Lark Rise is badly hit by the epidemic. Daniel Parish returns to Candleford to tell Laura that he has a new job in Cambridge, but instead he decides to stay and help the villagers. The townspeople of Candleford are persuaded to help with the harvest. Most of the Lark Rise children recover from the measles, but Alf Arless's younger brother Archie dies.
Very sad, heartbreaking.

"To love is to lei yourself open to loss; that´s the ______ we make with ourselves, Thomas, because it is worth it." BRILLIANT, SIMPLY BRILLIANT.

When one dies we must not be sad, but glad. For they have gone to a better place , a better world. That's what my brother always told me. And then he died. So from experience all I can say is that it is so so hard to be glad , when the ones you love are not there to make you smile. But we all must try. Go Alfie. You can do it.

I want to know where the landlord is in all this. Surely he should have sent help... come back.. something. These are his tenants that are falling on hard times.
