  • This tune brings back lots of memories of my time in Egba and it was a big event in our household when he decided to praise my father's name in 1976 and played at my grandmother's funeral a year later.

  • Thanks. have you got any of his cds? I need that of Yusuf Olatunji as well.

    He is genius.

    Thanks

  • @MassT82 Your comments are so informative and enlightening that I seek out your threads for careful reading and comprehension. I had sent live cds to EgbaAlake that I hope you comment on when he eventually uploads them. Thanks very much for your precise explanation of the lyrics both from the Yoruba and English perspective.

  • THIS IS not abusive songs at all--(for all anti-AYINLA observers)its sheer time-hunoured advice a loving respectable father would give to his shrucken brain, erring daughters --

  • "LOJO ikomo itu pa ni oja ni Itoko"

  • IN an era when most countless young Yoruba ladies especially risking their lives by bleaching their natural black coloured skins to visibly appear "light and white",it had reached endemic proportion,Ayinla Omowura--a natural born observant and brilliant social issues commentator, admonished those senseless and brainless ladies to cease destroying their already God-given glorious black skins thats it was absolute folly of them to do that.

  • Sheer brilliance

  • Oh boy I wish had the records you mentioned to contribute...I really do but it is dad who still has all Ayinla's 12 inch vinyls, maybe the next time I visit my dad in Nigeria I will ask him for them, I seem to remember he wasn't as big a fan of Yusuf. Keep up the good work anyway my friend.
