Propaganda and bullshit. Growing and processing methods make coffees taste better NOT big label certifications from well funded, well marketed, expensive, arbitrary labels.
Specialty (read: GOOD) coffee prices have been on the RISE and they fetch way better prices than $1.26/lb (4+ for decent africans! even some direct trade!) yet still command about the same price as crappy coffee does in the shop environment (with the exception of the occasional REALLY expensive rare varietal or something)
