BTW, you probably think I'm some right winger because of my comments here, but I'm not. In fact, I just got through demolishing a Paultard libertarian on another video. Even many centrists and liberals support the death penalty.

What I'm saying is that he wasn't a mainstream thinker, so his opinion can be taken with a grain of salt.

Okay, getting emotions involved is not always the best thing, but I don't see where it's bad in this case.

Capital punishment perpetuates the suffering of people who deserve to suffer.

It's justice AND revenge. What's necessarily wrong with revenge?

So is your argument that you have to execute all convicted first degree murderers, or it's unconstitutional?

    2. Also plea bargaining is another source of potential arbitrariness.

That statement does not actually provide anything worthwhile. He was extremely liberal- and that means what?

Another red herring. Allowing my emotions to get involved in my rationale clouds objectivity. That being said, I am very sympathetic to victims of any kind of brutal tragedy. Speaking of which, most heinous crimes are committed by individuals who were victims themselves of heinous crimes. Capital punishment only serves to perpetuate suffering in this world. "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind."

clearly demonstrated by pre and post-Furman application of capital punishment.

    3. You're right. But the effects of the application are virtually the same post-Furman. So one could argue that it should still be considered unconstitutional by the original Furman ruling. The post-Furman changes to the application process did not resolve the issues as they were supposed to.

    1. Ahh revenge, such a productive, healthy act. I would argue that it is not fair (it would drag this to a free will/determinism type debate). James Gilligan spent much of his life with these killers. You should check him out sometime.

    2. I did not mean to claim that you said anything, just throwing that in there as it pertained to the topic. As I said before though; Even if you only kill "most" as you said you would like there is plenty of room for arbitrariness as has been
