@RickiKeith Dead on. Most people think Falsetto is head voice or any heady notes. When it's a disconnect of the cords as you said!

how do you add more "chest" to your head voice??
lordovil 3 years ago
By "zipping" up or keeping the cords closed and balance pressure and air just right to get the heaviness of the lower range into the mix. Listen to some opera tenors and you can hear more of a heavy sound. You have to begin by "balancing" your vocal production through some time tested and specific exercises before your cords can handle the amount of pressure required to get a "chesty" mix. Stevie Wonder is another singer to listen to that utilizes this technique I demonstrate as well.

I've been learning to sing as an operatic tenor and I've found the chest doesn't require power but with precise control of all the muscles in the throat and mouth it can be made to just appear out of nowhere. I can so far choose my head voice, a thin chest voice or a baritonal chest voice, all with the same breath. I feel like its just a modification of my head voice, rather than the chest voice that I use when singing a pop voice. What I can't do yet is get above A#5 with my "operatic" voice.

What you experience is "too much pressure" with the heavier operatic sound. You are carrying TOO much weight into the mix. Typical of "bell canto" or opera. You must sense or feel a "release" sensation to get past this barrier while at the same time maintaining connection without loss of volume, technique, tone and projection

Well, this is just falsetto all the way through... Not that impressive.
markchalon 3 years ago
Do you even know what "falsetto" is? Falsetto is a "seperation" of the chords in a breathy non-contolled coordination. What I am employing here is a light "mix" mixing "head" voice which is a "closed " cord coordination with "chest" to get a blended sound - NOT falsetto. This is a demostration to show how singing "speech level" should be - effortless and ON KEY. It is VERY hard to maintain key and dynamic using falsetto.
