First Phoenicians are NOT arab. Los phoenicios no es arabes (my spanish sucks). Secondly, arabs did not invent sciences, they learned them from the greeks who learned them from the phoenicians. Phoenicians are the native people of Lebanon.

@issareign to judaism but being a jew means two separate things:being a follower of the jewish religion or being an ethnic jew(or even both at the same time).you don't have to follow the jewish religion to be an ethnic jew,and you don't have to be ethnically jewish to be a religious jew.maybe we should put in the language the term "hebrew"to denote the ethnic jew...again.

JEWS ARE NOT descendants of the Phoenicians. LEBANESE are direct descendants of the Phoenicians. Obvious for Israelites is the Torah. King Solomon traded with the Phoenicians to receive Cedars of Lebanon to build King Solomon's Temple. Torah describes Phoenicians as a Maritime civilization who at request of other nations, placed a Phoenician sailor on foreign ships to assist foreign nations in navigating the sea. DNA tests prove Lebanese are Phoenicians.

@lalalalala83 yes, but most people in lebanon today are not native lebanese sadly. since the civil war/syrian/israeli occupation, most of the lebanese have left, and been replace by central asian/iraqi SHIA. its so sad.

The Phoenicians were vast and far reaching people. The Lebanese (most people in lebanon today are not really true phoenicians, however there are those that are, but most of them don't even live in Lebanon anymore) are reflection of this.

i have no problem believing the phoenicians were in america. they were in britain, and all of europe, africa, and even as far as afghanistan. so yea, seeing as they were the technological leaders of their time, it wouldnt surprise me.

@jeromovich I can understand why you might think think this. People talk of anti-semitic, when they should say anti-jewish. Genetically Arabs are J1 (semitic), Israeli Jews are (mostly) J2. 'Jews' does not equate to Semitic, quite the contrary. Semitic means sons of Shem. Genetically Arab (J1e). Hence i.e. the HaSHEMite Kingom of Jordan. Only the kohamin/askenazi jews, who are descended from Aaron are J1. Alsot we must remember that Judaism is a religion, not a genetic group.
