@onstageagain First let me say....Thank GOD for that! History is not relevant to current American's attitudes.Obviously being a very large country, one cannot make absolutes about everyones feelings. Just general considerations. By the way I am a wife to a man who is currently deployed with the army. He works with several mexican first generation citizens, who give back to the country they want to be in. I'm merely tired of the 'Citizens' disregard for this country that they were born in.

@onstageagain Wow dude..calm it down.Today our 'American dream' is to be a white collar worker. Sorry to say most ppl now days think themselves to good for 'lower class work'.The ones who dont are to high on drugs to be more reliable then the illegals.U can't blame it all on illegals.The great 'strides' after the great depression was also aided by lets see World War 2, and selling arms to other countries. I wasn't suggesting letting them all in, but they are here they might as well pay taxes

@777Luluseven Immigrants do jobs Americans won't,? The owner of the local shop puts a sign in the window, "Dishwasher wanted. $1.00 / hr." & leaves the sign up for a week, no one applies for the job. "See?" its a job Americans won't do. There R a billion people in Mexico who work for less than a 2 bucks per hr. I need to import some cheap workers from Mexico.

Then he imports workers, undercuts American wages, & , sticks tax payers with the cost of  Schooling, Medical & so on.

Druing the time I mentioned we were building this country without Illegals, We got R grass cut, R meat packed, more houses built than any time in history, Mothers watched there children , Farms were Owned & Farmed by Americans . The idea we can't run a country without a endless supply of foreigners is absurd.

immigration levels were so low Numbers in the US declined, net emigration reported out of the US. During that time, Americans invented computers, had a healthy labor movement, initiated the space program, put men on the moon, made great strides in civil rights, environmental legislation, & built the largest economy the world has ever seen, All without illegals , Imagine that?

@onstageagain Being a Native American i can see how its a sore subject. But its a little late to be picking at who this country truly belongs to. I'm not saying that we should just open our borders and have a everyone welcome sign. But they are here and they do the jobs us legal citizens think is below us. They are people too...and theyre just trying to make a better life. If you legalize even a few it will take the burden off Americans causing them to have to pay into the system. Why the hate?
