This is a song by the Rutles (a parody group of the Beatles)

I think this song is intended to sound like the song Tomorrow Never Knows, but I really like this song parody or not.

  • Yes, a classy blend of "Rain" and "Tomorrow Never Knows" and other 66-67 Beatles music. The lyrics are a send up of Lennon's "We're just ordinary" philosophy. Lots of inspired little touches. Oasis on the other hand begged comparison with the Beatles but all they ever did was attempt an embarrasing ripoff.

  • I wouldn't say all of Oasis's songs sound like the Beatles. I do like some Oasis songs like Wonderwall and stuff.

I've always felt the singer of Oasis tried way to hard to be the tough side of John Lennon tho.

  • There are influences from the Beatles-song Tomorrow never knows (drums), Your bird can sing ("...it's me-e-e"), Helter Skelter (outtro), I'll be back again (two chords in outtro), Rain (sound) here. I haven't realized yet where the lyrics from...

  • Yeah, and in the third (my name is Joe Public I'm sure u all know me) theres the sound effects of records playing backwards like in Strawberry Fields they do that sound further in the song on the (Let Me Take U down cause I'm going to) part. Hard to explain the sound without describing it verbally lol.

  • well i think it is tommorow never knows and rain

haha the rutels are actully pretty good

but the beatles are still wayyyyy better

  • Well there really shouldn't be a debate on who's better because one is a parody of the other. But they weren't bad though. I enjoy them as well.

  • You know, this song would actually fit nicely on one of the beatles psychedelic albums. It's that good. Mindbending.

  • Being a pastiche of Beatles you can't help but hear Oasis... ouch!!!

  • I actually like this song for being a hilarious spoof :D Catchy

  • Brilliant - I think it's mainly Tomorrow never knows and Within you without you.

  • What amazes me about the rutles for being a parody band is that their songs are very good especially this one

  • @wwekane2468 OH YES!!!! I HOPE YOU LOADED ALL THE SONGS COMPLETE IN THIS GREAT STEREO!!!! I've been wanting to get these on mp3. I just have a cassette. Thanks for loading this!!!!

  • another fun fact for you, the rutles came from rutland weekend television, which had george harrison as a guest star singing about being a pirate. (that vid is on youtube) also, they made a movie called all you need is cash, which is hilarious and if you like the beatles, you simply need to see it. also, neil innes, the songwriter/lennon character from the rutles was also in the bonzo dog band, which was funded by mccartney using a fake name. the rutles and the beatles were close, and it shows.

  • Cool song, but lousy uploading job -- the end is cut off!

  • "Let me take you down cause im going to" "My name is joe public im sure you all know me" same timing and idea from strawb

  • @arsikus could it be nowhere man? except the opposite of what nowhere man is about

  • for some reason this song reminds me of nowhere man
