Changing of the Guard at Windsor. The Band of the Coldstream Guards.

Ladies and Gentlemen: this is a CONCERT band. Please, listen to the transition to "mezzoforte subito" from 4:08 and then we talk. I'm a Blues and Royals fan but this musicians can play too, and HOW.

I hope you enjoy. Forgive the somewhat erratic camera angles and some unconventional music cuts.

  • A very good recording/filming. i know it's particularly difficult when trying to march with them. They're such a brilliant band, but the Blues and Royals are excellent too, of course.m After all, they all get the same training at Kneller Hall!

  • @paulgarnham60 Thank you very much. It is indeed, for someone my age and weight, quite an achievement to keep up with a bunch of boys and girls walking and playing their instruments effortlessly on their way up to the castle. Rather depressing.

About the Blues and Royals, I don’t know if I’m ready to compare qualities with the coldstreamers, because that’s an exceptional band, but I admire and enjoy the Blues and Royals enormously and I agree with you that they’re excellent too.

  • I cannot tell you the amount of pride I feal when I see & of course hear this band.......beats the Donkey wallopers hands down Arbuckle123 ;0-)

  • @Musicgutbucket Come on, Muciscgutbucket, don't be mean. :) They're both very good bands.

  • The DM's mace drill is very smart, especially on the march back when they turn the first left after exiting the castle (4:00).

  • @bill1745 I totally agree. This is Drum Major Ben Roberts of the Coldstream Guards.

  • How I wish I could live in an apartment / flat where the different bands march pass by everyday. Yes, it is addictive watching so many fine military bands playing such uplifting good music.

  • Marches played by The Band of the Coldstream Guards are:

"Basler Marsch" composed by Thomas Heid / Rolf Schlebach

"Eagle Squadron" composed by Kenneth Alford

"Old Comrades" composed by Carl Teike

"Carry On" composed by Herbert Winson

  • Excellent upload. Many thanks !

  • On March 18, 1937, our school in New London, Texas exploded killing more then 300 students and teachers. In the mid to late 1940's, the Coldstream Guards came to our school and performed in the gymnasium. I wondered why a band from England would come to a town with a population of less then 1000 to perform. It was because England wanted to do something for the town. It was so exciting. We had never seen anything like that before. I am of Scottish descent and was in the Elementary school.

  • I'm greateful for every reaction but I would ask everyone to try to avoid the use of obscene language in their messages. Thank you.
