I can't believe that I was 2 years old when this was made. It blows my mind when I think of the racism, ignorance about human sexuality and the general backwardness of the world. Videos such as this one at least makes me feel that for only a moment here and there were people just people. I believe Nat's show was cancelled almost immediately...because of those backward times. Tonight, I watched Oprah do a show on the don'ts of driving while texting.
Hey, I half to agree with Jake, she was truly a natural gift to us! Wow, she totally tingled & paralyized me if she had a big band behind her,but those solf ballads. Wow, unforgetable!!! Thank you soo much.

Sorry she's gone and all, but I always found her annoying and overly exaggerated, and associate her with the death of the big budget musical. She's fine here though.
What a wonderful tribute. Thanks so much for this and the other posts. This is a perfect example of the great potential in YouTube: I might never have seen this side of Betty, otherwise. Thank you!
Thanks. Nice to see Miss Hutton in a quieter mode. Wonderful.
Amazing. In those days there was controversy that Nat King Cole was even on TV (because he was black). And there was the rule that he couldn't hug or touch his white guests (especially women).
Miss Hutton will be missed. She was one-of-a-kind.

The world is different but the same.

This was from the 1957 "NAT 'KING' COLE SHOW"- and it was one of the last opportunities for Betty to perform on a variety show.
Her last movie, "Spring Reunion", was in release at the time, and the situation comedy she starred in was two years away...and that was it.

So much like her sister in voice, but there was only one Betty. Precious! Gotta thank Mr. Cole for this one! (wasn't he the best?!!)
