It is not an Irukandji Jellyfish, as they are so fragile that they would be killed by the bump against the glass this thing takes. I'm not 100% sure if it is a Chironex fleckeri, as this particular jellyfish was very small. Could have been a baby?

I've been contacted by a marine biologist called Bastian Bentlage who co-wrote a paper on Japanese box jellies and this little guy (the bell is about one inch/3cm wide) is quite probably a specimen of a recently discovered subspecies of Chironex called yamaguchii.

  • You dont wanna touch that motherfucker

  • Particularly these little species of box yellyfishes are most dangerous. Not only because of their deadly venom but due to their invisibility too. You are wandering along the beach through the shores of clear water and suddenly you feel sharp pain and you have a few minutes either to get the right antidot or to die. If god(allah,jahwe,zeus,odin...) really exist then he is a fucking dirty asshole.

  • @BHtHClariorHincHonos U're a bit off there. U basically just have to be touched by one or a few tentacles. The tentacles will penetrate your skin an inject you with the worlds most deadly venom which will, if you dont get the antidote in time, stop your heart in a contracted state as the only venom in the world. That's at least what I've learned from watching other vids :P

  • What are you doing putting it in a tank? KILL IT!!!! As much as I love animals, this species does absolutely no good for any of us. All it does is kill and cause excruciating pain.

  • @surferfelix There is one species in the gulf of mexico that has killed one person. That was a small child, and I think they were extremely allergic to the sting. For the most part your safe, but none the less the sting is still excruciating. :)

  • @ballonman124 So the Box Jelly's Where i Live cant kill you? I live around the carribean area

  • @neecee401100 Box jellyfish can be found off the coast of america in the atlantic ocean and in the Caribbean area. These only sting though, and do not often result in death.

  • It’s hard to believe but that is the most venomous creature on planet Earth.

  • now this really is a "look but dont touch pet".

  • @pnemodite455 Box Jellyfish are only in Australia. They can kill you in 3 minutes. But like he said most just sting.

  • there not babies anymore!!!

there in their last stage which is the medusa stage

  • @pnemodite455 sure they're the same species?
