Presented for the first time on 9/9/99 at the Τribeca Performing Arts Center of New York, Valia Alexandratou's "Nine" was a journey of Angels to Memory and Oblivion.

The choreography's set involved the paintings of "Angels" by Eleni Kalokyri, inspired by Dante's "Divine Comedy." The choreographic moments refer to the emblematic concept of each "Angel"-painting as well as to a collective study of the visual dimension.

The work is danced to music by Achille-Claude Debussy, Michael Nyman, Karol Szymanowski, John Adams, Alfred Schnittke, Bill Evans, Olivier Messiaen, Dmitri Shostakovich, Benjamin Britten, Serge Prokofiev, Steve Reich, Karl Orff.

"Nine" previewed at City Center Studio 5 in New York.
