Sel: *looks at him* what do you mean?
Nick: *looks away* its not important.
Sel: *confused* It is important. I want to know.
Nick: *Still refusing to meet her eyes* Sel, youre the best friend Ive ever had. It wouldnt be fair for you to take that away from me, not after everything Ive lost.
Sel: *looks at him* Nick, I...
Jake: *bursts through the door with Frankie, both holding fizzy drink bottles* Sel!! *rushes to her side and throws him arms around her, both carefully but thoroughly* Are you ok? What happened?
Sel: *lifts her left arm, wincing as she strokes his hair gently* Ill be fine, Jake. Im coming home tonight, no worries.
Jake: *doesnt relax* whats the damage?
Sel: *turns to Nick, not knowing what to say. He nods at her encouraging her to tell Jake the truth before she turns her gaze back to Jake* few broken ribs and fingers but theyll be fine before you know it *flicks his nose gently with one of her few bruised fingers* No worries ok?
Jake: *climbs onto the bed and lies down next to her, wrapping his arms around her waist as she wraps hers slowly but surely around him* promise me that everything is gonna be alright?!
Sel: I promise that Ill look out for you like i always have, Jake. Were best friends forever, you and me!
Jake: *glances at the two brothers, both watching them with the same neutral expressions which immediately turn to grins as soon as they catch his eye*
Frankie: *waits for them both to detach themselves from each others grasps and walks over to Sel and holds her hand* you ok, sel?
Sel: *smiles at him and squeezes his hand gently* Im fine, Frankie. I swear.
Frankie: *kisses her cheek and pulls Jake out the room* come on, dude, i wanna play soldiers in the empty room next door!
Nick: *hides a smile from them as he watches Frankie kiss Sel and walk away quickly. As soon as he sees them gone, he gets closer to Sels bed again and sits lightly on it, looking at her bare, battered arms escape the bed cover* You know Frankie has a crush on you, right?
Sel: *smiles slightly and rolls her eyes* hes like 10, Nick. Its just a young crush thing. Hell get over it and be onto the next person by tomorrow.
Nick: *Raises his eyebrows* this is Frankie were talking about. He honestly thinks he could have a chance with you...
Sel: *joking* so do a lot of people... I just dont have all the time in the world im afraid!
Nick: *laughs teasingly* and you really think everyone is after you?
Sel: *shrugs and looks down at the sheet, being serious* i know guys arent likely to come knocking at my door with the crazy family i have... but hopefully therell be a guy whos closer than i think...
Nick: *looks at her thinking a LOT closer than you think* you believe in the whole fantasy prince charming thing, huh?
Sel: Not exactly *looks around the room, embarrassed* I just believe that theres someone out there for everyone and hopefully, well both just know that were right for each other and.... well.... yeah *She finished with her eyes locked to his* what do you believe for love?
Nick: *gets closer to her, nudging his way towards her slyly, without her noticing* Well.... i didnt used to believe in it *thinking before you moved here....* but i guess im just going to have to accept the fact that maybe it does exist and that my special person could be anywhere...
Sel: *keeps her eyes on him* so you think theres someone out there too?
Nick: *smiles at her thinking out there.... in here.... its all the same* Now i do...
Sel: *notices him edging his way slowly towards her and leans closer to him* What do you mean now? Why didnt you believe in it before?
Nick: *smiles as hes just inches from her* My parents kinda took all hope away from me in that area... but i guess i found something *mumbles* someone *goes back to his normal voice* that kinda showed me that thats not all life is...
Sel: *hears him mumble someone and looks away from his stare for the first time in ages and leans back away from him, disappointed* so, do i know this secret love of yours?
Nick: *looks down at the sheets where only one of her arms is still sticking out, covered with cuts and deep Blue/black bruises running up and down, takes her hands and turns it, gently tracing the patterns of her palm* i guess you may have heard of her existence...
Sel: *looks at him in surprise* so, whats her name?
Haha, yeah, im leaving it there =D... just to be cruel haha, BUT if i get enough comments tonight, i may post the next one haha xxx
