William Voegeli, a visiting scholar at the Henry Salvatori Center at Claremont McKenna College, discusses, with Hoover fellow Peter Robinson, how the welfare state has grown exponentially between World War II and today.
@carlindelco milton friedman's ideas saved this country of collapse, it fixed the ails brought on by the free market system that turned into a monopoly and caused a depression. Social programs, and small government regulation is ideal; too much free market like the republicans cram down our throats leads to monopolies, and too much government regulation leads to less free market. Obviously there is a balance that we can reach, but with both parties arguing over issues doesn't get us anywhere.
@kmg501 The welfare state is the democrats new slavery.. The Vote Plantation also it is the plan to destroy America. see ..Fox & Pivan capitalist certainly don't want that. It is pure evil...!!
The welfare state started with Roosevelt. It was in the form of the N.R.A, National recovery assoc, which was pushed by Bernard Baruch, modeled on a program that he implemented in WW1, in which he effectively ran all of the industry in America. Once the engineered collapse of the Sock Market in 1929 came about he 1st approached Hoover with the idea of what he had done for Wilson only on a grander scale, which Hoover turned down staing it was Fascism, Roosevelt accepted and the rest is history
The welfare state is pure evil promulgated by Wall Street corporatists and is the one of the big drivers of vote purchasing. I have nothing but contempt for this collectivist system that enables such massive fraud, collusion, corporatism, Marxism and generations of broken & incompetent families.
This is NOT the American we are supposed to be living in.
You guys think you have a welfare problem in the US? Try coming down to New Zealand. Cradle-to-the-Grave welfare that we have to borrow money to sustain.
The U.S.A currently has 9% unemployment, while the U.K has 7%. However, thanks to the welfare system in place in the U.K, no one need suffer.
