If there are Jazz heads in here complaining about Chick playing with these guys, they don't know that musical talent is everywhere. Dave Grohl is appreciated by a lot of people in every scene because of how multi-talented he is and he basically helped START the grunge scene. And it's not like Dave isn't an educated musician. He knows who Chick is because that's what educated musicians do: They listen to everything. And that's why Dave has always been considered a great musician.

I'm a fan of both Chick Corea and the Foo Fighters. This version is obviously a showcase for Chick's playing and the song is just a vehicle for his piano skills. Simply put, Chick is so good and is so far up his own arse that he's completely forgotten how to "play for the song". Dave's a bloody good musician and songwriter too. How many rock songs have a chorus over 3 bars and a neat little hook in 7/4 slotted into them? A crafted tune.

@iplaymusc he can but can you just see him play the chords with out embellishments? how boring, any musician can put themself in any situation what ever style!! just when you have a boring song its hard to make it sound good

It's a bit weird... check out how awkward those major 7th guitar voicings @ 0:14/0:37 sound against the piano parts, and vice versa- It's clashing - Chick should have have played even more elementary stuff- maybe just comped the chords, no solo at all. I love Chick and think Grohl is very talented, and dare to say that perhaps Herbie Hancock would have been a better choice - it's got nothing to do w/ ' having a technical mind ' like iplaymusc said below.
