John Houston Stockton (born March 26, 1962) is a retired American professional basketball player who spent his entire career (1984--2003) as a point guard for the Utah Jazz of the NBA. Stockton is regarded as one of the best point guards of all time, holding the NBA records for most career assists and steals by considerable margins.

  • ranked fifth best point guard in that draft. boy were the experts way off on that one.

  • I actually think that this is the best pick in 1984... simply because Jordan, Olajuwon and Barkley weren't really any secrets.... but even at pick no. 16 there were still quite a lot of decent players, and Stockton at the time weren't considered anything except a prototype point guard, a role player who is good at passing and reading the game but with little atheletism and not an all-star calibre... Jazz obviously saw something different
