Isn't it spelled dompe in the Fitzwilliam book? I know it's a dance, maybe of Italian origin(?) This is very nice. thanks for posting

yes, and 9 is wider than etc. until you get to eleven courses where you have unstopped strings where they are completely off the neck

8 course lutes have slightly wider necks then 7 course ones right?
