I'm an atheist, but I love your videos, Father Moretz. Your take on religion is a clear tone in this cacophony of fundamentalist zealots and extremists. You should seriously have a TV show. Seriously. No, seriously. I know I'm an atheist, but seriously. Anything but more Ted Haggards. Seriously. ;-)

"Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell?"
Matthew 23:33
"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not." John 8:44-45
This is the meaning of Leviathan. He is Satan.

This is the meaning of Leviathan. "He beholds every high thing: he is a king over all the children of pride."
Job 41:34
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, "
Isaiah 14:12-17

Doesn't Father Matt look a lot like HP Lovecraft?

Whether atheist or not, it's interesting to see that a long time ago, there was a creature so big and scary that they wrote it down and we still here about today.

You should read "Religion and its Monsters" by Timothy Beal; it discusses Leviathan, Behemoth, Dracula, Frankenstein, and many other beings while comparing them to their sources and how they were portrayed through history and today. It's pretty interesting how he compares the Leviathan to the Book of Job, "The Beast from 20k Fathoms", and the Thomas Hobbs' book of the same name. Sadly, it's out of print, but you can special order it from the Barnes n Noble website.
Hope you enjoy it!

I loved the random, booming "LEVIATHAN!!!" plus when it's paired with pic of the cute fuzzy kitty (snorgles). I also liked how you used piccies of "Pikachu" & "Hobbes The Tiger". Finally, I've seen a very convincing literary similarity between "Leviathan" and Lovecraft's "Cthluhu". Both are vast, primordial cosmic sea creatures of chaos & doom. I wouldn't be suprised if Mr. Lovecraft had "Leviathan" in mind when he created that "Cthulhu" whatchamacallitt.

Awesome! I've never made the connection between Hobbes' Leviathan and the biblical one. It brings to mind the analogy of the ways of Caesar verses the way of Christ.
Give me a break.....There is not one shred of enriching that "those of faith" could do for atheists. Any person with moderate intelligence, who has had even the slightest education in natural history and science can see that all religion is a farce and totally unnecessary in today's intellectual climate. It actually has a negative impact on human mental and emotional development. Religion is cancer of the mind. Embrace apostacy and free yourself before you waste your life....think about it...

I've thought about it a lot, and pursued this avenue for a while now. While I can't speak for "religion," whatever that general term stands for, I can say that my faith is hardly cancerous. It has nudged me (and many others) down the path of forgiveness, unconditional love, peace, rigorous ethics, and examining issues of ultimate meaning. I find God bringing new life where there was none. But it is sort of difficult to evaluate if you haven't gone much deeper than righteous indignation.
