Welcome to WMU Student Life
Life beyond the classroom is an exciting part of your college experience. You'll find countless opportunities here to meet new people, join student organizations, work on campus, and live in the residence halls.
Hi, I'm Diane Anderson, Vice President for Student Affairs - and I hope you will become involved here, and participate in the many facets of university life.
Get Involved
Getting involved will increase your probability of success at college and give you opportunities to make friendships that will last a lifetime. We have many programs and resources here to support and compliment your academic careers -- and engage you in the rich culture and diversity of WMU.
Experience Campus Living
Hello and welcome to WMU. The best way to experience campus life is to live here -- close to the action. Campus residence halls and apartments are within walking distance to dining rooms, the Rec Center, libraries, computer labs, and the Bernhard Center -- which is WMU's student center, a major gathering place. Living on campus means that you are the heart of WMU.
Join Student Activities
Hi, I'm Veronica. One of the best parts of being a college student is getting involved. WMU has over 300 student clubs and organizations that you can choose from -- ranging from paintball to student government. Student activities are a great way to make friends, develop leadership skills, and become part of WMU.
Be sure to kick off the year right by coming to Bronco Bash in September where 25,000 students and visitors get together to celebrate the beginning of the school year.
Stay Fit and Energized
During your college career here, you'll also want to take time to stay fit so you can keep up with the demands of college life. University Recreation has fitness classes, intramural sports, and other options to keep your mind and body in peak condition. For a challenge, join a climbing clinic on the 45-foot climbing wall.
Stay in Touch
If you want to find out more about WMU activities, the Western Herald student newspaper is great place to stay up to date about campus news and events.
Hey, this is Cindy from WIDR radio station on campus. WIDR is also an excellent way to learn about what's happening on campus and to hear unique music chosen specifically for WMU students.
Develop Successful Careers
As you begin the foundations of your career at WMU, the staff at the Career and Student Employment Services can help you with a career development strategy. Experts will work closely with you to explore career options, gain practical experience, and build professional skills. Whichever direction you choose, the BroncoJOBS online system is a good place to start your job search.
Stay Healthy
Healthy minds, bodies, and lifestyles are critical to your overall college success, and we have dedicated professionals and facilities here to support you.
Right on campus, Sindecuse Health Center provides a full range of medical services designed to prevent and treat illness or injury.
At the University Counseling and Testing Center, licensed counselors and psychologists help students manage educational, career and personal issues.
Supporting Families
Of course -- moms, dads, family members and friends will want to stay connected to WMU. The Office of Parent and Family Programs is a great way for parents to get updates about campus activities and resources.
For students with children of their own, the Children's Place Learning Center offers flexible child care options right on campus.
Celebrate Diversity
At Western, we celebrate, affirm and encourage all forms of diversity. You'll find our campus community embraces cultural differences through campus organizations, activities, and programs that advance inclusiveness -- and encourage open minds.
Build Character and Citizenship
We hope you will take advantage of the many exciting opportunities here to grow, learn, and to become responsible citizens and future leaders.
Whether you join a student organization, work on campus, join a fitness class, or volunteer your time -- the Student Affairs network is here to support you.
We want you to know that student success is always our top priority.
