Els Cooperrider is an energetic lady. She co-founded the Mendocino Organic Network, which began an organic peer-certification service for local growers. Their Mendocino Renegade label means products are "beyond organic" and local. She also led Mendocino to become the first U.S. county to be GMO-free -- genetically-modified organisms cannot be grown there. Her eatery, Ukiah Brewing Co. & Restaurant, is America's first certified organic brew pub, and serves seasonal local ingredients.

  • this video goes well with the organic meat post I tossed up when I heard the FDA is now allowing cloning in the factory farms.

  • Pretty scary to think the beef, pork and other foods we eat may be cloned, and we have no idea of the effects. I highly recommend seeing "The Future of Food" about genetically-modified organisms and their already-disastrous affects. Eat local, eat organic!
