I had the same problem on my ford explorer, I replaced the egr valve,dpfe, and didn't fix the problem, now I know what could be the problem. Too bad, I sold the car.

Hi realfixesrealfast
I have a UK specification Ford Focus with 1.6 DOHC duratec engine
I have just replaced the HT leads and spark plugs to eliminate a misfire issue which has been resolved but there is a seperate intermittant issue
Upon starting from cold fair infrequently the revs will jump up and down at a rate of about 3 times a second and will jump at a gap of about 300 revolutions per minute in a chugging fashion once the engine has warmed a little the issue goes away
what could it be

I have found this problem many times.,vacuum lines burned or chaffed.

Great Vid! Very Informative. I like how the instructions were very clear and the thought process of the technician was very easy to follow.

why does the focous sound like a diesel

as a former tech, thats been awayu a while, thanks for the info on how to diagnose this problem. I have been studiously ignoring the wifes toyota for the last month with this code
for lack of understanding of how easy it could be to diagnose.
thanks
cant see the forest for the trees

Good video, going to start working at a new shop with possibly more diag in my future as a tech. Thanks for the before and after on the dpfe pid.
@wafrederick
If you look in the video, it looks like someone already tried throwing parts at it look how clean the DPFE sensor is

Another video said FORD has changed the design of the DPFE at least 4 times because of many failures.
I will never buy another ford after my F350 Van blew a spark plug right out of the cylinder head. Now the plugs break off in the cylinder head upon removal.
Many failures reported. All of those Ford V-8s are time bombs waiting to fail.
