I've gotta agree with the last guy, great video, but please, lose the music - I'd rather listen to the Connie!

I miss these aircraft, My squadron in the Air Force was the 552 AEW&C Wing. I went frm McClellan to Iceland for a TDY on one and back 3 months later on another. I was in Aircrew life Support. USAF 69-85

@mctim64 VERY TRUE...lol thanks for posting!

They need to bring some of these back into service. I would gladly pay for a ticket from California Long Beach Airport to Las Vegas round trip!

It could be argued that a lot of these older movies have music because many cheaper 8mm cameras back then didn't have mics so you have to fill the space with something and personally i think it was a great and appropriate choice. I thank the author for sharing this with us of a younger generation.

@porcupineinteruptus The impact was out of our sight on a farm beyond the woods. The grinding sounds and smoke went on forever. Most survived, but Captain White gave his life trying to save some elderly. He MUST have been able to see the runway at Danbury airport,it was only a couple of miles from the field he chose.I dont know WHY he didnt go there. The TWA 707 had destroyed his tail section, maybe that was it,there was only the 6oclock news to report to us.I went there alot later,i have some wire.

May I relate a Constellation story from my youth? An unpleasant but revalent story to the history of the ships. It was a Saturday morning in Decemer 1965.I was a lad of 9 and playing with my neighborhood friends. We heard the deafening engine noise first. It then appeared, very close to us in the air, wobbling and moving slow for all the noise. The ground shook.Silver and blue.It said eastern Airlines and some tail parts were not there. We went into shock. It went down about 2000 feet away. Continued
I tend to agree with those who love the engine noise, HOWEVER: "St. Louis Blues" is a GREAT tune to go along with a classic bird. It was acrtually a surprise treat to hear this.

To all that hate the music: this is an old video clip that had a lot of wind noise in it and you could barly hear the engines, I like engine noise as well if not more than most but it is poor quality at best here. If you like I can just delete the clip and you wont have to listen to any of it.

@mctim64 Not trying to be a jerk, but if you had stated that in the original description, I bet nobody would have complained.
