  • I remember how disappointed I was when Marlena turned around...all that build up, and both Roman AND Diana seeing her and this was the climax????

  • Me too. I couldn't believe there was no real Marlena. It was easier this time knowing she wouldn't be there.

I have to wonder if they thought they were going to get Deidre back for this. I believe I read that they tried and even tried to get her sister to play her.

  • If I were Genie, I'd be a tad insulted about that. No wonder she left the next year.

I don't see how Diana could have been fooled by the actress the first time when she saw her in "Marlena's house". She looks nothing like her.

There was a lot about this s/l I liked, but the ending was not so hot.

  • I could be wrong, but I believe by this time, Genie had already decided she wanted to do other things when her contract ran out. I'm not sure of the timeline, but from what I read, it seems as if she was never really happy on Days and wanted to do primetime and tv movies instead.

I could most certainly be wrong though. She did a great job for someone unhappy with her career.

Totaly agree with you on the ending. It had a great build-up and totally lame ending.

  • It's sad that Genie wasn't happy on Days because I loved Diana. I really wish GF had felt differently and that she'd stayed on as Diana because personally I prefer her as Diana as I do to her as Laura. JMO!

  • @carliecurtis RoJohn knew how Stefano operated and how he always manipulated people and situations to suit his own purposes that's why I believe that RoJohn didn't buy that Marlena was alive at this time.

  • Yes, it's true, she once admitted in an interview that she hated her time on DAYS. I found that extremely disappointing because I was very fond of her work on DAYS with Drake. Roman and Diana were a terrific couple and knowing that one half of it didn't like what she doing makes me sad even in retrospect.

  • I think it's more that he doesn't want to let himself believe she might be, but you're right, the build up doesn't make a lot of sense. It only works if Stefano is trying to con us as well as John.

I really wouldn't put that past him, though. ;)

  • She was working on another show, and her schedule clashed.

  • If u mean at 2:14, I think its Mike Horton and April Ramirez. LOL

  • This makes no sense. I mean, even less sense from the perspective of back then. If this woman was just an actress--then why was Stefano speaking to her like she really was Marlena in earlier scenes? Why was she listening so intently to Roman trying to "decide"? This was a very lame way to use the character of Marlena to get extra ratings--like the mags always use Dee & Drake to drum up sales. It really ticked me off because in this scene Roman looks like he doesn't even want Marlena to be alive.
