Maggie McKaig--"To the Memory of Lance McCollum"

Maggie McKaig playing her Lance McCollum guitar at the 2010 Nevada County Composers Cooperative "Meet the Composer" event. Luke Wilson, Maggie's husband and musical partner of many years, was one of Lance's mentors, and Lance built this guitar--with Luke assisting, by providing wood, and doing the fretboard and peghead inlays--as a gift for Maggie, in appreciation for that mentoring. Lance left the world all too soon, passing away suddenly of an aortic aneurism in 2009 at the age of 49.

Beautiful. I never met Lance, but I have a guitar that he was instrumental in building. The 13th fret. I never play it without the thinking about the people who built it.
