Frank Thomas
Born and raised in Clay county, Frank Thomas is a native Floridian whose ancestors came to Florida in the late eighteenth century. His families direct connection with the land, his strong Florida heritage, and his love of Florida inspired much of his music. Frank's entire family played music and he learned it singing gospel at home and in church. Frank went on to tour nationally as front man with The Arkansas Travelers playing rhythm guitar. He later returned to Florida and performed extensively with his wife, Ann (1946-2004).

Frank has written over five hundred songs about Florida. He has recorded nine albums including Cracker Nights , Florida Stories, Bingo!, Spanish Gold, and Just Another Day... . Together, Frank and Ann produced and hosted a weekly singer-songwriter radio show for WMNF-FM in the Tampa area. They traveled Florida performing their music at schools, festivals, music and folk clubs, on television, and on concert stages. Their video "Florida History in Song" won the Florida Historical Societies coveted Golden Quill Award. Other awards received include The Florida Folk Heritage Award, and The Inaugural Jillian Prescott History Award. Though Ann passed in 2004, Frank continues the rich tradition of passing on Florida history through story telling in song.

  • I'm a California transplant who's been living in Tennessee for the past 22 years, and I just want you to know how much I appreciate the message in this song. Civil war is a terrible thing, and what our country needed was healing after that war. Lincoln understood that, but unfortunately he was assissinated before he could fully guide us through that process. There was just as much guilt in the northern states when it comes to bigotry. We still have a lot to learn. Blessings on you!

  • Thank you, my friend.

  • Thanks Madbeachbum! So great to see and hear Frank and Bobby performing this wonderful song.

  • This awesome. Seeing Bobby and Frank together again brought tears to my eyes. As Bobby always said,'Kiss my cracker ass!"

  • It wasn't until college that a history professor taught us the truth. He asked the class what was the #1 reason for the war between the North & South. The correct answer is "Taxation without representation" The northern controlled government imposed high taxes hoping to gain southern lands when the taxes couldn't be paid. Ah, money, the real issue! My Rebel Flag represents my pride and love for the south. Not hatred towards anyone.

  • God bless the CSA!

  • God Bless the Confederate Flag and what she flys for. And by the way, the first flag that the KKK ever flew was the American flag, but you never hear that do ya'all. God Bless everyone.

  • no, slavery had nothing to do with the war of northern aggression The South wanted lower taxes and a less centralized government the yankees wanted the money coming from King Cotton and knew that by letting us go they would lose nearly 60 percent of the money in America and lincoln was a complete racist
