lumarca is a truly volumetric display which allows viewers to see three dimensional images and motion. The system requires only a computer, a projector, and common materials found at most hardware stores. This provides an affordable platform for artists to design compelling content that conveys information, narrative, and aesthetic information in a new way.

  • The columns are actually just yarn and they are being projected on by a single projector. So, if we get them too close, the wrong light will get on the wrong string and it will loose the effect.

  • It actually scales quite well. Instead packing the strings in closer together, you just have more of them over a large area.

  • Couldn't the clarity issue of tightly packing them be solved by surrounding the columns with a gel that has the same refractivity of light as the columns?

  • Radiohead In Rainbows concert anyone?

    Pretty cool!

  • cool

  • pretty cool!! :D

  • This isn't very scalable. If you packed them tightly you probably wouldn't end up with a clear image.

  • I like this :-)

  • Awesome~! :) Really great~ If you need to make more strings~ I'll be there! haha-
