OYSTER RIVER - After years of dreaming about it, a group of Comox Valley businessmen have now started their own single malt whiskey distillery, the newest of it's type in Canada. Shelter Point Distillery, located on a farm just north of Black Creek has fired up the boilers and is just days away from starting their first test batches.
The partners toured several operations in Scotland while researching their plans and realized distillery tours were a huge part of several operations. They then upgraded their plans for the building that would house their operation.
The result is an impressive facility that features luxurious tasting rooms, etched windows and several gas fireplaces. The men say the pride of the artisans and the craftsmen who worked on the building is evident throughout.
Once the operation is fully up and running the partners will begin incorporating barley grown on the property just steps from the distillery. They will be testing a seed variety from the UK because the climate is similar to Vancouver Island.
there going to have cream lequres chocolate and many other flavours, rasberry vodka, and rye wiskey.

Is it just me, or in theory touring this place would be almost 'pointless' for 3 years until their first batch is ready...?
