The Pouch Peninsula is located in Germany between Leipzig and Luther's home town of Wittenberg in the post-mining landscape of Goitzsche between Muldestausee and Bernsteinsee lakes. Where coal excavators once left a crater-filled landscape, the world's largest landscape art project covering 60 km² was created between 1989 and 2000.
This year, for the second time, this unique, lake-dotted natural landscape was a both idyllic and futuristic venue for splash!, Europe's largest hip-hop and reggae festival. This year was the festival's eleventh year. From July 11 to 13, countless fans partied and danced on the beautiful Pouch Peninsula.
In addition to a fantastic, well-organized three-day concert lineup, splash! hosted several party tents pumping out the bass for dancers into the early morning hours. In addition, the festival featured freestyle, graffiti art and breakdance competitions, as well as a beatbox battle. Splash! truly showcased all aspects of the hip-hop genre.
The stars of hip hop took the mic on the main stages, and we were there to create a video sampler that offers an excellent overview of the various highlights of this year's festival.
The sampler includes the greats of German hip hop, including Azad and Blumentopf, new acts such as Casper, Blumio and Damion Davis, as well as international stars like Looptroop Rockers, Saigon and M.O.P. - throw your hands up in the air!
