State of the World's Human Rights

A global justice gap is being made worse by power politics despite a landmark year for international justice, said Amnesty International today in its annual assessment of human rights worldwide.

Launching Amnesty International Report 2010: State of the World's Human Rights, which documents abuses in 159 countries, the organization said that powerful governments are blocking advances in international justice by standing above the law on human rights, shielding allies from criticism and acting only when politically convenient.

I really don't care for this video, from the title I thought they'd explain different but all I'm getting is other countries being in a sufferage from food for the most part, and I really don't care to be honest.. The world is over-populated as it is, I personally think that the ones who die were meant to if they were eventually led to that point. Everything happens for a reason. America is just more civilized for the most part than places like them, that's why you barely see riots like that.

Thank God there are organizations like these. We hope that this organization fights for human rights of sexual minorities in the world. Especially in the Middle East and Africa. Where homosexuality is still beaten by religion and national laws. I advocate the decriminalization of homosexuality in the world.

There are approximately 8,400 Palestinian political prisoners being held in Israeli prisons and detention centers. 546 of these are administrative detainees, held without charge or trial for indefinite periods of time. 389 of the political prisoners are aged 18 and under. There are 65 Palestinian female political prisoners, 1 of whom is a mother who gave birth in prison. There remain 38 elected members of the Palestinian Legislative Council(PLC) .

Since the beginning of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories in 1967, over 750,000 Palestinians have been detained by Israel. This forms approximately 20% of the total Palestinian population in the occupied Palestinian territory (OPT) and as much as 40% of the total male Palestinian population.

The United Nations is a pathetic, ineffective, and obsolete body. It is an insult to those that are suffering around the world. If Amnesty International did not exist, I would have very little hope for human rights in this world.
